STR Advocacy - A HexaCom Group Area of Expertise

Across the nation and around the world, owners and operators of Short-Term Rentals (STRs) and Vacation Home Rentals (VHRs) are facing increasing attacks in the political and public affairs realms. HexaCom Group has been at the forefront of these political fights on behalf of property owners and managers, defending their right to rent their properties responsibly. Whether it's a full ban, punitive STR taxes, or other strict regulations, HexaCom Group can help you and your local STR Alliance fight for common-sense rules that allow for responsible renting that respects neighbors and protects property rights.

Here's some examples of our work:

Anaheim, CA

In 2016, Anaheim completely banned all STRs. HexaCom Group led the successful effort to reverse the ban in 2019 on behalf of the Anaheim Rental Alliance.

Steamboat Springs, CO

In 2025, Steamboat Springs was considering a new "vacancy tax" which would have led to a new tax on most STR properties in the City. We led a local coalition to shut down this proposal before it even made the ballot.

South Lake Tahoe, CA

While successfully defeating a "Vacancy Tax" in South Lake Tahoe, we also helped elect a new City Council in 2024 that ultimately overturned, in 2025, a ban on STRs that had been in place since 2018.

Newport Beach, CA

HexaCom Group has been retained by the Newport Beach Short-Term Rental Alliance to establish and manage their new association of STR owners and managers and strengthen their voice in the community.
